Q. Do your hurricane shutters
meet the Miami-Dade County Small and Large Missile Impact
Tests?
A. Yes, our clear hurricane shutters are made of LEXAN
XL-10 and are virtually indestructible. They meet and
exceed all Impact Tests for the State
of Florida, including the Miami-Dade County Impact Tests.
Q. What wind speed
are your shutters good for?
A. The shutters will withstand a hurricane wind speed
force in excess of 155mph.
Q. Do your shutters carry any
warranty?
A. Yes, the shutters are quarantined by General Electric
not to break or discolor for 10 years
Q. What is rough cost for your
shutters?
A. Our shutters cost $6.13 per sq. ft. plus the cost of the hardware and tracking.
Tracking method, for in-store pickup. Shipping is quoted
per job.
Q. Is all of the necessary
hardware included to install the panels?
A. Yes, we include all of the necessary hardware with
the individual panels for both the Panel Mate method
and Tracking method.
Q. What sizes do your shutters
come in?
A. We carry the following sizes (inch width) 15", 27", 33", 39", 45" and 51". Shutters come in any
length, but generally 96 inches is the maximum that
we can ship. Longer lengths than 96 inches will require
special packaging and handling, and as a consequence
will cost more. We will advise customers accordingly.
Q. What if my window is wider
than 51"?
A. The shutters are corrugated and can be easily overlapped
to fit any opening size.
Q. Do overlapped panels provide
sufficient protection?
A. Yes, the shutters have been tested in that scenario
and perform equally, if not better than when the shutter
is one piece.
Q. What if the shutters arrive
and are too long?
A. The shutters can be cut using a Skil saw with a standard
plywood blade containing approximately 90 teeth.
Q. What if the shutters are
wider and taller than my window opening?
A. That is okay. In fact, shutters are cut on purpose
to over lap the opening for installation purposes unless
the shutters are to be installed on a window that is
inset, then, the shutter must be cut to the exact size
of the window or door opening. Remember the importance
of measuring, and refer to our measuring section.
Q. What if I made a mistake
in measuring the openings, can I return the shutters
for replacement shutters?
A. Unfortunately, once you order shutters you own
them. Hopefully, you will be able to cut some
shutters to make some of them fit. We will try to work
with you on other options, but can offer you no replacement
or refund guarantees. That is why making accurate measurements
of openings is so important.
Q. Can the shutters be used
to protect sliding glass doors?
A. Yes. This may require the use of various build-out
hardware. Please see our advanced options section
Q. Can the shutters also be
used to protect French doors?
A. Yes, just as explained above in the question about
sliding doors.
Q. How heavy are the shutters?
A. That will vary by the actual shutter size. However,
in general most shutters weigh between 5 and 7 pounds,
which is very light. Most people can easily install
them.
Q. How long will it take to
process and receive my shutters?
A. That is a tough question as it is affected by the
supplies from the original
manufacturer. We will attempt to process and ship your
order within 5-7 business working days, and will advise
you if there will be any unusual delay. (Note: It may
also take 2-3 days to be delivered.
Q. Do you sell any other types
of shutters, i.e. aluminum, Colonial, Bahamas, etc.?
A. No. We only sell clear GE LEXAN XL-10 Shutters made
by LOOKOUT Shutters
